Georgetown shines as one of America’s most sought-after suburbs

Georgetown is soaring as one of the top 30 most highly sought-after U.S. suburbs of 2025, according to a new national survey by moving services provider MoveBuddha.MoveBuddha's experts analyzed Zillow Home Value Index data and mover search data from August 1, 2024, to September 11, 2025, for the 100 largest U.S. metro areas. The study then determined the most desirable suburb for each metro by analyzing which had the highest inbound-to-outbound move ratio. Cities that qualified as "suburbs" were those located about 31 miles from their main metros.Georgetown ranked as the 27th most desirable American suburb, and it's the No. 3 best suburb to move to in Texas. This North Austin neighbor fell third to Boerne, a city outside San Antonio, and the far-flung Dallas suburb Wylie. Georgetown's population has soared over the last few years, and a separate MoveBuddha report also named the city one of the top suburbs everyone wants to move to earlier in 2025. A recent WalletHub study also named Georgetown one of the best small cities in America. This Austin-area neighbor isn't just being scouted by suburbanites that want to live in a small, safe city with more space; Homebuyers and Queer Eye fans were intrigued when celebrity interior designer Bobby Berk designed 10 home plans in Georgetown's Wolf Ranch Community. That's one way to attract young homebuyers to this buzzy city.Additionally, H-E-B recently opened a large-format supermarket in Georgetown in September, its third location in the city. And there are plenty of other businesses, local festivals, and attractions adding to the suburb's charm. Not to mention its historic downtown square.MoveBuddha determined that average home in Georgetown is valued at $435,491, landing somewhere in the middle when compared nationally with other desirable suburbs offering the cheapest home values.Elsewhere in Texas, Boerne ranked as the No. 4 most sought-after U.S. suburb and topped the Texas-wide list, while Dallas neighbor Wylie ranked 7th nationally. Edinburg, a South Texas city outside McAllen, ranked as the No. 42 most desirable suburb in America, and Houston suburb The Woodlands ranked 48th nationwide."In the end, America’s most popular suburbs are proving that big moves don’t always mean big cities," the report said. "Sometimes they mean big charm, with moderate prices, with some proximity to mid-sized metros. And if trends continue, the popularity of these spots — and their housing prices — will only continue to climb in 2026."The top 10 most sought-after suburbs in America are:No. 1 – Wake Forest, North CarolinaNo. 2 – Eagle, IdahoNo. 3 – Maryville, TennesseeNo. 4 – Boerne, TexasNo. 5 – Greer, South CarolinaNo. 6 – Camas, WashingtonNo. 7 – Wylie, TexasNo. 8 – Summerville, South CarolinaNo. 9 – Alex, North CarolinaNo. 10 – Florence, Kentucky
